Fuse Bead Pattern Maker: From Grid to Pegboard

Fuse beads, also called iron beads or melty beads, are arranged on a pegboard before being fused with heat. A fuse bead pattern maker provides the placement plan: one occupied grid cell for each bead, with coordinates and a color key. The next step is matching that plan to the bead size and boards you actually own.

Bead charts use your selected reference palette. Screen colors are approximate; check the series, bead size and physical colors before buying.

Estimate the footprint from your bead size

Multiply the grid width and height by your bead spacing. A 64-cell row at 5 mm spacing is about 320 mm across; at 2.6 mm spacing it is about 166 mm. These are planning estimates, not a measurement of every manufacturer's board. Verify the pitch of your physical pegboard and allow working room around the design.

Print an overview and use tiled pages for detail

A large chart squeezed onto one sheet can make color codes too small to read. The PDF export adds numbered construction pages with global row and column coordinates, so you can work on one area without losing your place. Print at 100% if you want the PDF's 5 mm cells, and compare a measured test square with your board before using it as a size reference.

Treat the chart and the ironing instructions separately

A grid export gives placement and quantities; it does not determine the correct iron temperature or heating time. Follow the instructions supplied with your beads, board and ironing paper, and have an adult handle the hot iron for children's projects. Check the completed layout before applying heat, when misplaced colors are still easy to fix.

Questions about this tool

Are fuse beads and Perler beads the same term?

Fuse bead is a general craft term; Perler is a bead brand. Choose a Perler reference or MARD palette in the workbench. Community reference IDs are not retailer product numbers; check physical colors before buying.

Does a PDF fit my pegboard exactly?

Not necessarily. Printer scaling, bead spacing and pegboard design vary. Use coordinates for placement and verify physical dimensions before treating the printed grid as a full-size template.
